Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I take part in BCVC?
If you want to start a business during your time at Boston College, BCVC is the best way to do it. We offer you resources and connections to help you develop your idea.
Do I have to be a business major?
No. BCVC is an organization for anyone in the BC community who has a passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. We encourage students from all majors to participate in the competition and other BCVC events.
What if I have no team or idea?
No worries, the BCVC executive committee is determined to help those who are looking to get involved but need help building a team. Contact us at BCVC@bc.edu or come to our kick-off events in September for more info.
Do I need to have participated in other BCVC competitions (such as the Accelerator or Elevator Pitch Competition) in order to participate in the Main Competition?
No! There are no prerequisites for applying to the Main Competition. New teams and ideas are always welcome! You do not have to have participated in any other BCVC competitions prior to applying for the Main Competition. However, in order to compete in the Final Competition, you must compete in the Semi-Final Competition to be considered eligible. Teams that advance from the Semi-Final will have the opportunity to compete for prize money.
Do I have to compete to be involved in the BCVC community?
If you’re not ready to compete, you can absolutely still be a part of the BCVC community by signing up for our newsletter and other updates on our website. BCVC events provide a great learning opportunity for anyone interested in entrepreneurship, start-ups, technology, or venture capital.
